About

XNA 7 Day is a fun set of challenges intended to help stimulate thinking in the XNA community. Each XNA 7 Day challenge begins on a Sunday and lasts for seven days. Participants are challenged to create a game or prototype given a specific theme or rule they must follow. These rules can be anything from limiting physical inputs to requiring a specific game mechanic.

XNA 7 Day is a completely for-fun challenge. This means there are no judges, no prizes, no winners, and no losers. Every appropriate entry will be listed on the site in the results post for a given challenge letting other developers and the general public download and try the games and prototypes. By making the challenge just for fun, hopefully more beginner and intermediate developers are willing to enter without having to fear losing.

Entry Rules

There are a few simple rules and guidelines to follow if you plan to enter an XNA 7 Day challenge:

  1. The game must be made with XNA Game Studio 3.1.
  2. The game must be built for PC.
  3. The game should be entirely created in the seven days. You can use an engine or framework developed outside of the seven days as long as the actual game was developed in the seven days.
  4. The game must abide by the specific theme or rules for that week.
  5. Entries should be no larger than 10-15MB as that’s the largest attachment size our email can handle.
  6. Entries must include some sort of in game instructions or an external “Read Me” file explaining the game and controls.
  7. Entries must include a screenshot, short description, and developer name (for credit) for use on the website in the entry listing.
  8. All entries will be hosted for download on this site, so don’t submit a game you don’t want shared with the world.
  9. Games absolutely cannot contain copyrighted material that you don’t have permission to use.

Games failing to meet these rules will not be posted to the site so make sure you remember these things before sending in your game.
